Brian Bosch takes the top step of the podium that the Davis Fourth of July Criterium
Last Sunday, the Yahoo Cycling Team boys hit the streets of downtown Davis for the annual Fourth of July Criterium. It was a bit warm, but great weather for racing. The crowds were lively and the spirit of the holiday was in the air.
We lined up with a full squad and controlled the race right from the start. Everyone played a role; we never let a break go up the road without at least one Yahoo! Cycling Team rider in it. Most of the time we had 2 or 3 guys in the break which made our odds even better. Some of the guys said they were a little under the weather, but you could never have told by the way they rode. In fact, every one of us was in a move at some point in the race, even me!

Two of the Yahoo! Cycling Team Elite men made the podium
The Yahoo! Cycling Team boys lined up against a stacked field of 152 cyclists from all over the nation for 6 laps of a brutal 27 kilometer circuit in Bend, OR. This race was the big one – the Elite National Championship Road Race. The team’s plan was to be represented in the early moves and save a couple guys for the final time up the infamous climb up Archie Briggs road. The entire team worked well together to execute this plan.

Ryan Parnes made the podium at the Nationals Crit in Bend, OR
Downtown Bend, OR on a Friday night is a pretty lively scene. Toss in a block party with a live band and surround it with a national championship criterium and you have the recipe for awesomesauce. The course itself was a bit lackluster: a standard four-corner crit with two long straights. The one hitch was a violent narrowing of the road in turn three, where four lanes became one. The team was well-prepped and fired up. With a squad of eight strong guys we knew we had the firepower to take the race and make it ours.
