Racers line up for a wet start at the Ronde van Brisbeen Crit
On a rainy day, the Yahoo! Cycling Team lined up for the Palo Alto Bicycles Ronde van Brisbeen Criterium. No raindrops were falling at the start, but the course was wet and slick with seven corners in a 0.6 mile loop. A number of strong riders from the California Giant and Kelly Benefit Strategies teams were determined to make it a hard race.
From the start, the Yahoo! Cycling Team executed numerous attacks initiated by Brian Bosch, Filip Vanacht, John Wilk, Kevin Klein, Patrick Briggs, Tyler Dibble and Vince Owens. Several breakaway groups accelerated away, only to be brought back by the determined efforts of the peloton. The course began to wear on the riders with a hard acceleration in each lap out of the 180-degree turn.
