Ryan Parnes made the podium at the Nationals Crit in Bend, OR

Downtown Bend, OR on a Friday night is a pretty lively scene. Toss in a block party with a live band and surround it with a national championship criterium and you have the recipe for awesomesauce. The course itself was a bit lackluster: a standard four-corner crit with two long straights. The one hitch was a violent narrowing of the road in turn three, where four lanes became one. The team was well-prepped and fired up. With a squad of eight strong guys we knew we had the firepower to take the race and make it ours.

Waking up the morning of the Pescadero Road Race and looking at my alarm clock, I immediately wanted to go back to bed. However, I knew that my teammates would be expecting me at the race, and just 15 minutes later, at 4:45am, I was on the road.

2010 Mt. Hood Cycling Classic Coming off a great first half of the year, the Yahoo! Cycling Team geared up for the second half of the season using the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic as perfect preparation for the Elite National Championships in 3 weeks time. I was personally excited as I knew I had good form despite the setbacks in training from finishing school and sickness. All in all, six of us — Evan, Vinny, Tyler, Phil, Ryan and myself — made the trip up to rainy Hood River, OR to test ourselves against some of the best bike racers in the nation.
